En Pointe offers The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D) Modern Theatre exams, from Primary to Intermediate, which are designed to provide a sense of achievement for children and young adults who dance for fun as well as those wishing to progress to a career in the dance industry.

I.S.T.D Modern Theatre exams also incorporate jazz, lyrical and contemporary dance styles into its examination syllabus.

Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer. Choreographers use the lyrics from the song to inspire the dance, portraying the emotion and story of the song.

Dancers will also work on their technique, strength and flexibility, which is of fundamental importance to any style of dance.

En Pointe attends Lyrical Dance competitions and has won many first and second-place trophies.

(These competitions are open to all Lyrical dance students.)

Street dance is an umbrella term used to describe multiple dance genres, including hip-hop, locking, popping and house dance.

Our Street Dance classes are very popular because while we teach fun choreography, we also ensure all students learn the basic moves and fundamentals of street dance, whilst understanding the groove and bounce that is needed to achieve the correct technique of this dance style.

En Pointe offers Street Dance competitions at the prestigious venue The Blackpool Tower Ballroom as well as The Winter Gardens and other exciting venues. Competitions help students gain confidence, build friendships, improve their dance skills and technique, whilst offering an unforgettable experience.

Acro-dance is similar to gymnastics but has a more artistic, dance and performance based approach. Students will learn skills similar to gymnastics such as Forward rolls, Cartwheels, Handstands, Front and Back walkovers. Our intermediate Acro-dance class works on more advanced Acro skills.

Our Acro-dance classes always have an Assistant Teacher for extra safety.

We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus and when students are proficient, they can take Acro-dance exams. The Acrobatic Arts examination process is designed to motivate dancers. Having defined and achievable goals is a proven way to motivate dancers to excel. Dancers work through twelve exam levels, each designed to create a well-balanced acrobat, including elements of flexibility, strength, balance, limbering and tumbling.  

Baby Ballet & Pre-school Acro-dance is a child and parent/carer dance class for children aged 2-3 years old. The perfect class for spending quality time with your little one.

This class is a fun way to enhance your child's coordination, cognitive development, vocabulary and social skills through song and dance. We use song, dance and a variety of props to keep children engaged in their learning.

One parent/carer is required to assist their child throughout the class.

Miss Honey is an I.S.T.D Ballet and Acrobatic Arts Pre-School qualified teacher.

We offer Private Dance Lessons in a 1-1 setting or for two or more students for all ages and abilities.

Whether you require a dance Grade that’s not currently on our timetable or want some extra practice before a competition or an exam.

Private dance lessons are available for Ballet, Tap, Modern/Jazz, Street, Lyrical and Acrobatic Arts.

Timeslots and prices will be arranged according to each individual dance lesson.
